Everything you need to
know about the “R” factor
of insulation is just a
phone call awayl
And ... knowing about “R” factors is
important in saving energy and money!
Our extreme southwestern weather
makes it even more important for
homeowners in this area to know all the
details about the “R" factor of
insulation. We can tell you what the
recommended "R” rating for this area
is and show you how insulation with the
proper “R” value resists heat loss or
heat gain. Proper insulation can help
you use energy more efficiently and
keep your home comfortable year
’round. If you have questions or want
information, call or come by the
Community Public Service Company
office. Our representative will be happy
to visit your home and talk with you
personally about this and other energy
and money saving ideas.
“Our state taxes in Texas are among the lowest in the
nation, and I want to keep them there. As I’ve said many
times, I’ll veto a tax increase before the ink dries on the
bilL”
As Attorney General, John Hill
proved he could increase the effi-
ciency of his office without any
unnecessary budget increases.
He absorbed a three-fold increase
in his office caseload by hiring top
legal talent capable of higher
productivity. The result: his staff
lawyers doubled their average
workload, and the increased court
judgments and enforcement of
civil penalty laws returned $25 for
every $1 of state funds spent on
his office.
As Governor, John Hill will insist on this same type of increased
productivity for all state agencies. He will institute new controls
over federal funds, demand that we follow our “pay-as-you-go”
budget policy, and use zero-base budgeting to eliminate un-
needed programs before any new program^are added. And he’ll
block any state tax increase — there won’t be any new taxes
under John Hill.

R. L. Jones, pres- 1
ident emeritus and
founder of the Texas
Senior Citizens Ass-
ociation, said today
that John Hill will
be elected governor
because of his over-
whelming support am-
ong retired Texans.
‘ Jones said, "I pe-
| rsonally support Hi-
ll because of his
I commitment to retir-
i ed citizens.
”As Attorney Gene-
I; ral, Hill undertook
I an investigation of
the nursing home in-
1 dustry in this state i
and because of that
the lives of hundre-
ds of retired perso-
ns have been made a
little better.
i ’’Attorney General !
Hill also supports
our association's
I program for guarant-
eed homestead exemp- *
' tions for persons
I over 65 years of
age. That’s real im-
I portant to a lot of
I retired folks becau-
se inflation hurts
| those of us on fixed
. income worse than
■ anyone else.”
| Jones said that
Hill had been campa-
igning for a year on I
a platform that inc- '
luded elimination of
the sales tax on ut-
ilities .
Even before he was
elected, a lot of
Texans have realized
a tax reduction and
lower utility bills
because of Hill's
efforts.
"What I like about
Hill is that he doe-
sn’t make a lot of
promises.
"He just goes and
does what he said
he's going to do.”
Jones said that
Hill would be able
to work better with
the overwhelmingly
Democratic legislat-
ure to achieve tax
relief for homeowne-
rs, "particularly
those who are retir-
ed."
Jones was in The
Celeste Courier tod-
ay campaigning for
Hill with former St-
ate Senator D. Roy
Harrington.

KINDERGARTEN
"Pets and Animals"
has been our topic
this week. We discu-
ssed what animals
made good pets arid
kinds of pets each
student had. We also
discussed the feedi-
ng and care of pets.
Next, we worked a
"Which Can Fly?" pa-
per, a "Which Have
>Fur" paper, a paper
where we had to draw
a line from the ani-
mal to the type of
’food it eats; and,
finally, one in whi-
ch we had to draw a
line from the animal
to the tail that ma-
tched it.
Our leaders for
the week have been
Staci Childress, Da-
rby Hubbard, Bridget
Cole, Josh Long, and
Amy Evans.
