Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and Dallas Contemporary have announced the winners of the 2012 annual transit-themed student poster contest. This year's contest featured more than 486 entries from 34 different schools across the region creating a poster for the theme "Expanding Possibilities, Expanding Opportunities!" Competition was open to students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and 25 received recognition in the grand, first place, runner-up and honorable mention categories. Sophie Anthony, a ninth-grader at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, won the grand prize. In addition to receiving a cash prize of $300 from Dallas Contemporary, Anthony's artwork will be highlighted on the side of DART buses through the summer. First place winners from kindergarten through fifth grade will receive a Radio Disney presentation for their class along with a $50 cash prize. A $100 prize goes to middle school winners and $200 to high school winners. All first place winning artwork will be displayed on DART trains and at various rail stations.
