INTERNATIONAL
CHOIR PLANS
CONCERT HERE
A unique choir composed of
students from various coun-
trieswill present a concert at
First Baptist Church of Burle-
son on Monday, April 7 at
7:30 p. m.
The International Student
Choir brings its folk songs,
nationaldress and eager spirit
together in a most unique
way. It provides the impor-
tant opportunity for students
from other lands to partici-
pate in cultural exchange
through music as well as cus-
toms.
The choir will include Min-
eola, Tyler, International
Student Conference, San
Marcos, and Burleson on its
tour schedule, April 4-7.
The music in the concert is
of great variety. Several folk
songs and humorous songs
from different countries are
included in the first portion
of the program. The middle
portion of the concert will
feature solos on piano and
organ. The third part of the
program is entirely religious
withone of the numbers being
sung in five languages.
Director of the choir is
Britton Wood, Baptist Stu-
dent Director at North Texas
State University. Don Cole-
man, Baptist Student Director
at Texas Woman’s Univer-
sity, co-sponsor of the group,
is also traveling with the
choir. All choir mejhbersjsare
students at NTSU and TWU
in Denton.

TRAINING MEETING
HELD FOR
CANCER WORKERS
Burleson held its first train-
ing meeting for area captains
in c h a r g e of the house- to-
house cancer crusade Mon-
day, March 31.
Terry Broxon spoke on the
purpose of the Cancer Society
and the services available in
the county for cancer patients.
Mrs. Gregory Poole instruc-
ted the captains on the use of
their material
A film strip "Tell Your
Neighbor" explained the du-
ties and purposes for area
workers.
The house-to-house drive
will be held April 14. Mer-
chants will be contacted for
their donations between now
and April 15.

They have heard Chief Homer
Barns as well as the teacher
speak on this subject and have
taken part in a round table
discussion.

For the past 4 weeks approx-
imately one hundred junior
high students have been stay-
ing after school each Tues-
day to attend a class, on the
harmful effects caused by
drugs and narcotics.
