“A determined effort is being made by some farmers in the Lew-
isville section to destroy jthe boll weevil, w’hich are again menacing the
cotton crop, not only abound Lewisville, but all over the county. Boll
weevil desroying machines have been given a try-out on some of the
farms this week with appreciable results. There is no question but what
these machines will accomplish a great deal toward eliminating the pest.
One machine we saw at work on the Gentry farm east of town was ac-
complishing a good work. Weevils and punctured squares were located
on the plant and after the maohine had passed over them the ruined
squares and Mr. Weevil were no more. It is to be hoped that more
farmers will see the fallacy of sitting idly by and trusting to luck to
eonie out all right when a machine of this kind will pay for itself sev-
eral times over in the course of a year.” ’
