Weems, T. C. U. distance runner,
was one of the bljj stake of the
afternoon. He won first place in both
the mile and the half tnlle events
and that by easy margins. In fact,
he did not fully extend himself and
when Frank (Dutch) Hansard was
finishing completely exhausted and
had to be rubbed, Weems came in
with plenty of reserve aXter hard
sprints in the finish. He runs with
an easy, powerful stride and tho he
allowed Hansard to set the pace in
both events, his wonderful sprint-
ing ability carried him to take tha
head of the field* each time. Op-
posed by faster rtien he could prob-
ably do either event In much bet-

noon.
