Victrolo The Highest Attainment in Sound-Art
The mission of the Victrola is*oiirely one of transmission. The recorder
and reproducer should teli the simple truth, no more, no less.
The Victrola is not an instrument in which the interpretation and ex-
pression depends on the player like the organ or piano. No- instrument can
be made to improve on Melba, Caruso and the other great artists. The only
modification permissable are those obtained by changing the needles from
loud tone to soft tone and by ijdjiisting the sound door^ to suit the size of the
room or the mood of the listener. •
