sports-related eye injuries occur
each year.
Although nearly 90 percent of
those injuries are preventable, eye
safety is too often at the bottom of
a team’s or player’s priority list.
Prevention, however, is the best
medicine. Dr. Peter Shaw-
McMinn, an optometrist and
Advisory Council member of the
Better Vision Institute recommends
both children and adults wear some
form of eye protection when play-
ing sports.
“No matter what, though, never
wear your everyday glasses while
playing a sport," he warns. “The
