you.
Every Good and
Great Thing
that has ever been accomplish-
ed was done with exactly the
same gifts that Nature gave
yov. Every man who has
achieved financial indepen-
ence started and engineered
his business to profitable pro-
portions with a brain no whit
better than yours. Your boss
has you bested only through
a longer experience, not
through a handicap at the
start.
q The ambition of every
yoirg man is;*or ought to be,
to get into his own business,
i to run something of himself,
for himself "and by himself.
Fortunately, however, to start
the average business requires
a little capital, and the re-
quirement separates the sheep
from the goats, and that it
weeds out the lackadaisical,
those without ambition, the
spiritless. And just through
that weeding out it gives
even greater opportunity to
the man with grit and get-
there. whose fetish is, “I will.”
0 The first step to this inde-
pendence in business life is to
open a bank account and be-
gin saving a small portion of
your earnings every month.

tion to open an account with
this bank to-day, and thus

AMU»E.-ENTS.
At Wright's opera housd* Monday
evening "The Goose Girl,” dramati-
zation of Harold MacGratifs popu-
lar novel, was presented to an au-
dience that filled the house almost
to capacity. The audience was very
responsive, and frequent applause
sounded the tribute to the perform-
ers who so successfully presented
the pretty little drama.
Victor Southerland was
man in- the role of American Von-
aul to the little principality of Eh-
renstein, and to him came the moat
frequent applause. As Arthur Car-
michael. his personality was irresist-
ibly charming and American, and
noL the least over-drawn as is some-
times the case In the lesser dramas
presenting heroic young Americans.
Instead of a heavy role of tragic
heroism, his was the unaffected I
part of a happy souled young Amer-1
lean gentlemkn, and the frequent
ringing of hig laughter during the
most Intensely dramatic momenta, i
as often when he held the losing as
the winning card, quite won the
hearts of those in the audience.
Alzora Verton aa the Princess Hll-
dedgarde combined queenly dignity
; and grace with a very winning man-
ner. and no one blamed the young
man for “looking at the queen." Her
a tlng seemed ao natural as to be
scarcely acting at all, and in the roll
i of Princess nothing more could have
been desired in her stage personality.
The little Goose Girl took the au-
dtemq almost by storm, and while
childishly lacking tbe dignity of the
princess, a charm of manner quite
as unaffected was probably due to
tier occupation as a little tender of
geese. When it is proved that she, — - - . ,h. I
