Daniel Webster Wes Not Long In Dis-

an important foreign matter up for dis

Each man bad n different idea of it.
Finally Mr. Webster arose, saying,

Friday morning a Record an<i
Chronicle reporter in company with
Aiderman Joe Mercer visited the
city's ceptic sewerage tank.
To .hose who have never been t'»
this place he tank and the method
of tbe disposal of the sewage is mes-
interesting. Much work has been
done at the grounds by the city. The
rains of the spring overflowed the
grounds and washed a great deal of
dirt and trash Into the open tank.
This has been cleaned out and a
dam built entirely around the tanks
and the grounds sodded wi h Berum
□a gras. %
T’ne tank proper is composed of
four compartments. Tbe first one
into which the mains empty being
closely covered all light being ex -
eluded. There are three open tauks
which are controlled by an auto
malic arrangement which, when on
of the tanks become filled closes
the door and turns the water into
one off the others, he Twiter that
comes from the closed ank into
those in the open is as clear as tbe
water direct from the city main*
and there is no perceptible odor ev-
en when it first comes out of the
closed tank.
These open tanks are filled witn
gravel through which the water seeps
into a discharge main which carries
it to Pecan creek.
The water coming from his dis-
charge pipe is a8 clear as any other
water and looks much cleaner than
that tn lhe creek above where the
pipe entersthe creek.
The tank is located just ’nor h
across the road from the cUy ceme-
tery and its presence can not be de-
tected until one reaches the dam
which surrounds he grounds.
