From Dr. J. L. Gammtll of Ponder
the Record and Chronicle has re-
ceived the following interesting let-
ter concerning his trip to Tennessee:
The writer left Ponder August 31,
In comimny with L. B. Swafford for
a visit in Tennessee, via Oklahoma
City and Memphis. We found good
crops al] the way from Ponder to
Oklahoma City. Arriving there at
7 p. m. we had one hour and twen
ty minutes to look at a beautiful
live city. W’e left there
p. m., m we didn't see how the
crops were until we got over into
Arkansas. They are dry through
Arkansas and West Tennessee and
the country looked poor to a Den-
ton dounty man.. We arrived in
Nashville Monday morning, and
parted there, .Mr. Swafford going to
Columbia and I to Shelbyville We
met at Petersburg Tuesday at the
annual colt show. Saw lots of fine
stock. Mules sell for $600 a span
and mule colts sell for $150. The
people take great pride in raising
fine sto< k here. And the country
is in a prosperous condition.
Land here has increased in value
from $10 td $20 per acre In the laat
two years and is Mill going higher.
Corn is the principal crop here. The
renters pay two-thirds and put it in
the crib. Places are hard to rent.
I can't see why more of these rent-
ers don t go to Texas. This proves
to me that a man should get a
small farm. Land is still cheap in
Denton county compared with thia
land..A Denton county man ought
to be satisfied when the farmer can
only cultivate fifteen acr«s of corn
and pay two-thirds of that for rent.
Texas has a bright future if it'
wotlld take more interest In fine ]
stock. Each county here has a l
county fair just before the state |
fair. 1 attended the Bedford <x>un
ty fair at Shelbyville last Friday.
The state fair will convene at Nash-
ville September 16. I thins a
county fair at Denton wouiu be a
good thing.
Mr. Swafford and I have agreed
to meet in Nashville Friday to start
back to Texas.

LwJ ha«e proven beyond doubt that there are millions
MM off worlds in the heavens. That each drop of
water contains millions off living creatures. That this
fair land was once the bed off the ocean and also verifies
the old adage that "bread is the staff off life." The
splendid patronage and the universal satisfaction that
has followed every sale off PEACEMAKER FLOUR Is
most gratifying indeed. It takes the blue ribbon in
every contest. Bread made off Peacemaker Flour is as
bright as the light and as soft as the dew. Kings eat it
and are made glad because of Its superb quality. One
sack off Peacemaker in the home is all the advertise*
