At a meetlug of teachers and
patron8 Of the West Side school
Thursday afternoon at the Sam
Houston building it was decided, on
account of the small attendance,
that a second meeting would be"held
Tuesday, at Which all of the patrons
of the West ward school are urged
to be present, when an organization
will be effected more closely unit-
ing the teachers and mothers of the
school.
While the atieidanc- was small
at. Thursday's meeting, a great
deal of enthusiasm was displayed,
and a number of things considered
for the immediate betterment of the
school. Miss Clara Goodwin, for
several years principal of one of the
Bonham ward schools, was present.
■>nd made an ^interesting talk, tell-
ing about the • qulpmeiit of the Bon
ham ward school, and
mothers of the school
funds providing them.
Superintendent J. W. Beaty
res-nt and expressed his hearty and
entire approval of the- under’ak’ng
■‘nder consideration, and his desire
to 'o-operate in the work.
It was decided that on account of
the small a tendance, not to ef'eet
an organization Thursday, but Miss
r it dai Hicks, as temporary chair-
man. -ailed a meeting to be he'd
Tuts< ay, Sept. 17, at 4 o’clock at
the school house. The teachers
seemed very much interstd in the
matter of an organization uniting
teachers and patrons more closely,
and the Invitations for the • first
meeting Thursday were extended by
them
It was decided that primary at-
tention would b“ given, as soon as
the club is organized, to the equip-
ment of i he playground with snlt
able material to give the children
wholesome occupation during their
play hour and recesses.
Invitations are being extended to
all of the mothers of West ward chil-
dren, and it is hoped that the at-
tendance Tuesday will be large.
