NEW TORE, April 19.—A formal
statement waS issued by a commit-
tee of the surviving passenger® of
the Titanic on the arrival of th-, lea-
ding Carpathia laid night.
On Sunday night, April 1-1, at
about 11:40 on a cold starlight night
in a smooth sea with no moon the
ship struck an ice berg which had

on deck and the stopping of the boat
about 3 o’clock Monday morning and
went on deck. Lifeboats were soon
sighted and began to arrive. One by
one they drew up at our side, lyiere

of 50c per 1,000 cubic feet, provid-
ed, however, that this rate shall be
subject to a discount of 5 cents per
1,000 cubic feet if payment is made
befote the 10th of each month, tor
gaa consumed the preceding month.

or all of the said streets, highways,

thoroughfares in the said city of Den

struct ng. maintaining, operating, re-
claiming, replacing and removing
such pipes, mains, valves, connec-
tion® anl street boxes required to
carry convey, transport and deliver
said gas to consumers thereon, upon
the follow ng conditions.
“2. Whenever practicable pipes
for the conveyance of said gas in the
vicinity of any street shall be in the
alleys parallel therewith. Paved
streets shall be used only -when ab-
solutely necessary and then only up

Council, first had and obtained.
