Slightly more than 16,000 of the
total of more than 36,000 persons
killed in automobile accidents last
year were pedestrians That this toll V
of life lost is too large, all will agree.
The chart above shows what pedes-
trians were doing last year when
they met death. It shows that 28 per
cent of those killed were crossing
the street in the middle of the block;!'
22 per cent were crossing at the
Intersection; 19 per cent were walk-
ing along the rural road; 10 per Cent
were children playing in the street;
7 per cent darted out into streets
from behind parked cars; 14 per
cent were Indulging in miscellane-
ous practices.
The important thing that this
chart brings out Is that many pedes-
trians fail to take the simplest pre-
cautions. According to statistics of
the Travelers Insurance Company,
more than 1,000 pedestrians were
killed and 35,000 were Injured by
crossing against signals; 4,500 were
killed and 73,000 were injured by
'crossing in the middle of the block;
1,140 were killed and 33,000 were
injured by darting out into streets
I cars.

You are challenged to recall
any instance in which I have
ever shirked a duty or sidetracked
an issue as your County Attorney

ways done and now propose to do
my duty at all times. There are
no whispered scandals relating
to my conduct and tenure of of-

iecord.
I want to represent the entire
County—and State. All former
State Representatives from Mon-

other points of the County, other
than the vicinity of Bowie. The
last three Representatives elected
have been residents of the No-

my record, my qualifications, and
the principle of fair play.
I am a candidate on my own
qualifications and offer you my

practical business man, with an
untarnished record both in public

valuable service. And. if elected.
I will devote mvself to the duties
