The many friends of Miss Lena Mid-

surprised to learn that they were mar-
ried some two months ago in Cleburne.
The bride is a daughter of S. \V- Mid-

of Denton and is ft present residing on
Lula street. Miss Middleton taught
school at Pilot Knob until two weeks
ago, when she resigned supposedly be-
cause her father had sold out and was
moving to town.
The groom is well known to the peo-
ple of Denton, especially the baseball
fans. He attended the Normal one reg-
ular term and two summers, during
which time he won quite a reputation
as a ball pitcher on the Normal team.
Mr. James is at present principal of the
Ballinger public schools and owing to
the fact that they were both teaching
they have kept their marriage a se-

Mrs. James left Friday morning for

Court; Jury Lists Opened
In all a total of 172 suits*have been]

Some days ago the grand and .pel it

Slow Rain was Great Benefit
• '* ■ ’• -
Th Amall grain crop of Depton county
has been greatly benefited by the rains
of the week and In many places the
rain came just in time to save the
crop. In a number pf the grain growing
communities of the county it tvill prob-
ably be necessary for spring oats to be
replanted because of the continued cold
and the lack of moisture. Some oats
and wehat are coming out nicely since
the rain and it seems will not suffer
now frbni the drouth and cold. There
is reported a general tendency among
the farmers to plant a larger spring qat’
acreage this year.
. The rain also permitted the farmers
to prepare their lands for other spring
planting and nearly all have returned
to work. The rain, while 'not sufficient
for all purposes, gave temporary relief.
