convenience center fees during
the city wide spring clean up the

City commissioners gave their
approval for use of the fair-
grounds between the 800 and
900 blocks of East Cleveland
and East Bryan for a Kids Fish-
ing Day on March 23 and the
i Chamber of Commerce Goat
J Barbecue and Craft Show on
May 10 and 11, adopted on third
- reading an ordinance amend-
ment calling for a disconnect
fee to electrical customers, and
considered 15 other items in
their Tuesday night, Feb. 26, 5
p.m. session.
The disconnect fee is $195
and applies to all electric util-
'■ ity customers of the City upon
removing the city’s meter and
service. In addition the ordi-
nance provides for a cost to be
assessed against disconnecting
customers if any distribution
facility is rendered and not us-
able elsewhere on the city sys-
tem.
Jeff Watts of IESI asked
for use of the pond at the
fairgrounds for a kid fishing
rodeo noting that his company
had stocked the pond with
some 600 rainbow trout for this
purpose. He said some channel
catfish will also be placed in the
pond.
The fishing rodeo will be for
kids 17 and under, and be from
9 a.m. until 12 noon on March
23. No fishing license or trout
stamp will be required and some
poles will be available. Hot dogs
will be served at lunch.
Following a public hearing
regarding awarding $1,200 to
the Electra Chamber of Com-
merce from the hotel and mo-
tel room occupancy tax fund for
the 19th annual Goat Barbecue
and Craft Show, commissioners
granted the request.

TREE TRIMMING—Trees in downtown Electra were trimmed last week by crews from
Southwest Rural Electric. City workers were kept busy feeding limbs into the chipping
machine. City officials said SWRE planned to trim limbs from power lines, and they
requested a more symmetrical shaping for the trees. Cost to the City for this project had
not been determined Tuesday night.
