order to provide them with iron

apple. Heat one and n half oup3
milk. Mix one-half cup augur ne-
eighth teaspoon salt and two atile-
spoono cornstarch and slowly add
hot milk. Cook in double boiler
until the cornstarch is thoroughly
cooked. Pour on two beaten egf
yolks and let cook in doubl1 bin'or
about two tntr.utes stiinrn; all thu
time. Cool and add crr i-up of
crushed Hawaiian pineapple well
drnmel ami one-half t a poon
vanilla. Pn-.r into a baked crust
and cover with a meringue iruda
of two stiifiv-beaten egg whiten
and two tab!' poons sugar. Brown
in a moderate1 oven.
Pinrcpp!' Cakf. Crenni ono-
half cup -bortening and one cup
sugar together until ll-rht- anil add
two wrli-bonto'i egg yolks. Mix
and sift two tups flour ono-'iuarter
teaspoon salt nnd four tcspnrin3
baking nowder. Add alternately
wilh three-quarters cup syrup
drained from crushed Hawaiian
pineapple. F'ld in two stiffly
beaten white of egg. Pake in
layer cake pans in a mndert.te oven.
Put pineapple icing between the
lnyers and on top The icing is
made bv nd iing drained crushed
pino:ip;i!e to a boiled icing.
