In 1961 he started Curf-
man Oil Co., a jobbership in
Roswell, and in 1970, he was
recruited to join the govern-
ment as an economic develop-
ment representative. For the
next three years he coordinated
economic development in New
Mexico before accepting the po-
sition of EDA representative for
the southwestern U.S. region.
He was a leader and was of-
ten called to Washington D.C.
to present his views to political
and governmental leaders.
In 1976, he and his wife,
Charlene Abell Curfman, re-
tired to Runaway Bay where he
was active in the church and
was a city councilman. He was
a former deacon in the Runaway
Community Church, was a city
councilman, 32nd degree Ma-
son and president and long time
member of the Southwest Con-
ference Football Officials Asso-
ciation.

a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1992,
from Runaway Bay Commu-
nity Church with burial in
Resthaven Park, Lubbock at
11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Ar-
rangements were under direc-
tion of Hawkins Funeral Home
in Bridgeport.
