Arthur Thomas Glass, 79
of Denton, Texas, a former
resident of Electra passed away
Tuesday, September 28, 1999
at Denton Regional Medical
Center.
Mr. Glass was born in Strat-
ford, Oklahoma on September
23, 1920 to Thomas D. and Okla
(Dingus) Glass. He was mar-
ried to Ola Mae Marti on Aug.
30, 1941 in Davis Oklahoma.
He attended Public Schools and
was a graduate of Oklahoma
Military Academy and the Uni-
versity of Oklahoma. He was
a Pharmacist and owned and
operated the Goldsmith Drug
Store in Electra from 1949 until
1969 when he moved to Denton.
He has been a member of the
First Baptist Church in Den-
ton since 1969 and a member of
the Early Bird Sunday School
Class. He served in the U.S.
Navy in 1945 and 1946.
Funeral services were held 10
a.m. 'Thursday Sept. 30, 1999
at the Cindy Nicholas Chapel
of the First Baptist Church
with Rev. Cliff Feeler and
Dr. Jeff Williams officiating.
Burial was at 4 p.m. Thursday

Dr. James O. Jones, L'l’C,
USA, Ret., age 64 of San
Antonio, died Monday, October
4, 1999.
Dr. Jones vvas born and
raised in Electra, 'Texas and
started his education at Punkin
Center School and transferred
to Electra High School. He
graduated with a Bachelor
of Science in Geology from
Midwestern State University,
where he vvas President of
Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
I Ic then went on to earn his
Master of Science in Geology
from Baylor University, and
his Ph.D. in Geology from the
University of Iowa.
Dr. Jones served for over 30
vears in the U.S. /Xrmy Air De
lense Artillery, during which
time he received the Merito-
rious Service Medal and the
Army Achievement Medal. He
vvas currently Associate Profes-
sor in Geology' at UTSA. He
holds numerous honors and pro-
fessional society memberships
and received a number of pro-
fessional honors. He has pub-
lished in a
professional publications, and
edited and previewed a num
her of articles and books. His
memberships include the /\mcr
ican Institute of Petroleum
Geology, the Society of In
dependent Professional Earth
Sciences (SIPES), the ?\mer
ican Geological Institute,the
Gulf Coast Section of SEPM,
the American .Association of
Petroleum Geologist, the Geo
logical Society of America, the
South 'Texas Geological Soci
ety, the West Texas Gcologi
cal Society, Sigma Xi and the
American Legion.
Dr. Jones was preceded in
death by his parents, Charles
and Onis Jones, and his brother,
Melvin.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Colo
nial Hills United Methodist
Church in San Antonio, 'Texas
with the Rev. Dr. Bill Har
ris officiating. Interment was
held v/ith full military honors
on 'Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. in
Burkburnett Cemetery, Burk-
burnett, Texas.

Raymond Thad “Ray” Mc-
Cormick, 64, died Monday,
September 27, 1999 in Electra.
Funeral services were held 10
a.m. Thursday, September 30,
1999 from the United Pente-
costal Church of Electra with
Rev. Donnie Napier, pastor,
United Pentecostal Church of
Electra, officiating. Interment
was in Olustee cemetery, Olus-
tee, Oklahoma under the direc-
tion of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. McCormick was born
December 11, 1934 in Garvin,
Ok. He worked in the oil fields
for many years.
Survivors include six daugh-
ters, Patricia Walker of King-
fisher, Ok. Rhonda Fillmore
and 'Tammy Maness, both of
Electra; Lonnctte Haycr of
Garland, Texas; Candy Bel-
lomy of Ensign Beach, NJ,

the Electra facility. Waggoner National Bank plans to build a new facility here in the
400 block of West Front Street.
