“They’re big in size with three
linemen in excess of 215 pounds
and their big in enrollment with
over 600 kids in high school and 59
freshmen out for football,” Allen
said. “They’ll definetely have the
depth advantage if it doesn’t work
against them. Right now, they
appear to have so many kids out
that they aren’t sure who'is the
right player for the right spot.”
“Their weaknesses appear to be
The Steers also lost a pre-season
scrimmage to Jacksboro 3-0 and
downed Henrietta in a similar
scrimmage 3-2. Allen said the
Steers will have good speed in the
backfield and, of course, good size
everywhere.
“We’ll have to execute good,”
Allen said. “I thought the team
did well against Petrolia and...no
question about it...they picked up
some valuable experience....espe-

cially the younger players. We
came through the Petrolia game
without any ..injuries. Scott Dulan-
ey sufferedabruised thigh, but its
not giving him any trouble this
week. We were fortunate also
with no seVere cramps....due to
the conditioning which our boys
are in.”
Allen said that he may make a
few changes in this week’s line up.
He plans to move Kendall Hefley
to tight end and Eddie Rodgers to
fullback. Dulaney will move to
tailback and Whisenhunt to wing-
back. Sophomore Wayne Watkins,
who saw duty both ways Friday at
tight end and defensive end, will
our strong points,” Allen said.
“We feel like we’ll be able to
move the ball on them. It should
be a good solid game. They’ll be
much tougher than last week’s
opponent (Petrolia).
The Steers lost their season
opener to Stephenville, which was
the Head Coaching debut for
former EHS Coach Joe Loudermilk
who took the Stephenville head-
post last Spring.
concentrate on defense this Fri-
day.
Allen added on the Tigers’
chances this Friday, “We should
stay with them if they don’t
overpower us with their size and
depth. We’re looking for a good
solid close ballgame.”

‘Big’ Steers Pose Tough Threat for Tigers
The Electra Tigers’ next oppon-
ent, Graham Steers, didn’t get off
to the winning start as Coach Joe
Alien’s charges did Friday, but
despite the 30-12 loss to Stephen-
ville the Steers are tough and will
be hard to handle for the local
gridders this Friday at 8 p.m. in
Tiger Stadium.
Electra Coach Joe Allen said
Tuesday the Steers can be descri-
bed in one word....“Big.”
