Looking for fun? A challenge? A chance to share and
use your talents and skills? An opportunity to mt new
friends? Volunteerism offers all this and more, and may b
right up your alley. The Volunteer McKinney Center and
Directorjeanninne Sellmeyer might help you find your
niche.
The newly created center will maintain a database of
organizations and volunteers that will enable matching a
volunteer’s interest to the needs of different nonprofit
groups, schools and and agencies.
Sellmeyer, a longtime McKinney resident, has teach-
ing experience, worked as a volunteer and has directed
volunteers for the Denton County Historical Museum.
The Volunteer McKinney Center was create to help
meet McKinney’s needs by the City of McKinney,
McKinney Independent School District and the
McKinney Alliance. The office is located in the
McKinney IS Tax Office building at 800 N. McDonald
Street.
Join the growing group of volunteers doing all sorts of
interesting jobs. Call the volunteer McKinney Center at

Scout Days at the Heard Museum
The Heard is offering all new Scout Days for Boy adn
Girl Scouts in 1998 and ‘99. Scouts and leaders will par-
ticipate in four workshops including demostrations and
hands-on activities. This year’s workshops are Animal
Tracks and Tracking, Pioneer Games, On the Prairie and
Wilderness Survival.
Registration is underway for Fall ‘98 Scout Days, Oct.
17 and Nov. 14. (Registration for Spring
‘99 Scout Days will begin Dec. 15.) F
Cost is $8 per scout; one adult free Jjtj gl||
