LINGEN, Tex. (AP) — A $13
million research program by
the cotton industry has result-
ed in the development of 100
percent cotton durable press
trousers to be marketed in
1970, an industry spokesman
said Wednesday.
Earl Younts of Lubbock,
Tex., a staff member of (the
National Cotton Council, said
a new finish has been devel-
oped to allow production of the
durable press trousers.

Grande Valley cotton growers
that development ofthe new
trousers will fill ‘'the greatest
single need” in the industry.
Younts and two other Cotton
Council speakers were in Har-
lingen to present a progress
report on the research and
promotion project financed by
the voluntary $1 per bale con-
tributions paid by cotton grow-
ers. Theprogram is being car-
ried out by the National Cot-
ton Council and the Cotton
Producers Institute.
Domestic cotton consump-
tion has beep going up for two
straight months, said Carlton
