the west end of West Oak nearing

i MRS. BURNS’ VISIT
MURDER CHARGE
Mayor Bates is in receipt of the
following letter from Senator Hayter
of this district:
“Perhaps it is not necessary for
me to beg your pardon for not an-
swering your letter of the 11th
promptly, but suffic- it to say that
for one solid week day and night up
to 3 o’clock in the morning we have
been in session and with closed doors
and no stenographer to do our worx
because of the fact that all steno-
graphers are working in committee
rooms on enrolled bills over which
Mr. Kelly has charge.
“Replying to your letter I beg to
thank you for your kind expressions
therein but do not feel that 1 war-
rant any special approval from the
citizens of your city and county for
doing what 1 consider by plain duty.
tAit of couise I duly appreciate your
approval of my course while here
“I again talked to Senator Willacv
th s afternoon about the $2,000 ap-
propriation for the sewerage connec-
tions and he says as far as the Sen-
ate committee is concerned there is
no doubt but that they will approve
of same and I feel quite sure they
will, and I know of nothing to be
done further that I cannot do myself,
and of course as your representative
I feel it my duty to do this as if
it was my own personal affair
“Aga n thanking you and through
you the citizens of your city whom
you represent for the kindly expres-
sions. 1 am v«ry truly yours
