MOUNT ENTERPRISE - Much different
then the August council meeting there was
actually civility and every agenda item that
was passed was a 4-0 vote (new council mem-
ber Freddy Swann was absent).
Newest council members Brandon Jones
and Jim Reese along with incumbent mem-
bers Johnny Fryman and Judy Cox led by
Mayor Harvey Graves wasted no time in get-
ting past the consent agenda in order to tackle
the city marshal’s position.
Prior to the consent agenda four citizens
spoke during Visitors/Citizens time express-
ing their concerns to the council the need for
a city marshal.
As soon as Mayor Graves read the first
action item Councilman Johnny Fryman
made a motion to form a hiring commit-
tee and place advertisement for a new city
marshal’s position. He recommended that
new council members Jim Reese and Freddy
Swann along with Mayor Graves serve on
that committee. The motion was unanimously
approved.
After pulling the agenda item Wastewater
Sewer Improvements a motion was made to
go into executive session to discuss the follow-
ing agenda items: all employee’s salary, duties
and hours, city marshal position and budget.
After an extended executive session a
motion was made and passed unanimously
to change city hall’s office hours Monday
through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but open
to the public until 4 p.m. Saturday hours will
be 8 a.m. to noon.
City Administrator Rosena Becker-Ross’s
salary was reduced to $45,000 per year. Also,
City Judge Rand Cates salary returned to $700
per month prior to budget cuts made a few
