“We’re seeing all ages this
year,” Propes said. “It is defi-
nitely not discriminating even
if people received the flu vac-
cine, maybe we’re seeing a
different type this year.”
Propes said coughing is the
main symptom their office is
seeing this year.
“As soon as they walk in
the door if they’re coughing
we’re handing out masks,”
Propes said. “It could be the
flu or it could be a severe
cold. We’re seeing people who
are just absolutely miserable
because of the mucus, aching
shoulders and headaches.”
Lee Ann Hein, ETMC
Emergency Room Director,
said their biggest problem is
that every hospital in the area
is full.
“We’re having a hard time
getting people transferred or
there is a delay,” Hein said.
“Though our hospital has
been full, we’ve got a really
good hospitalist that keeps
the patients moving and not
that other hospitals don’t, we
just have a really good system
here and it’s working w^ell. It’s
been an absolute team effort.”
Between the adminis-
tration, the hospitalist and
everyone, ETMC Henderson
has been able to keep seeing
patients in a timely manner
without major delay.
