the bride of Edgar C. Darter Thurs-
day evening at six-thirty o’clock
at the Church of God, with Rev.
W. H. Kile of Paris, Texas, reading
the simple but impressive ceremony
before the altar bedecked with
flowers. The bride was attired in
white satin and carried an arm
bouquet of lilies of the valley. The
bridal party entered to the strains
of Mendelsohnn’s wedding march
played by Miss Ruth Harris. The
bride on the arm of her father,

in the marriage of Mrs. Vivian
Hazel Carroll, Saturday afternoon
at 2 o’clock to Mr. Bird Johnson.
The ceremony was read in the pres-
ence of only relatives and close
friends at the bride’s home on West
Glisson avenue. Mrs. Johnson is a
daughter of W. A. Satterwhite ani
has lived here for several years.
Mr. Johnson came to Electra from
Lewisville. They will make’ their
home here.

Saturday from Stockton, California,
where she has -been attending the

circuit pastor, was in charge of
funeral services held the family
home on the Magnolia-Hamilton
lease north of town Sunday after-
noon for James Engene Sharp, Jr.,
age four and one-half years, whose
death as a result o drinking kero-
sene took place Saturday at 3 p. m.,
at the Parmley-Hospital. The lad
sucked the- fatal draught through a
death as a result of drinking kero-
sene * from a drum, late Thursday
afternoon and he was brought
shortly afterward to the hospital.
It was not thought that his condi-
tion was serious at first, but he was
taken critically ill Friday after-
noon and little hope was held out
then for his 4 recovery. Interment
was in the Harrold cemetery.
Survivors include the parents, Mr.
atty Mrsi J. E. Sharp, Sr., a small
brother and numerous other rela-
tives in this vicinity. His grand-
mother, Mrs. H. Kukelhan of Bon-
ham, was among those attending
the rites here.
Givens. The groom’s brother,
Woodrow Darter, was best man
and Messrs. Ira McClufe and Flou-
noy Givens were ushers.

planet Pluto some years ago, Is shown with his bride, the former Patricia
Edson, Kansas university coed, after their wedding ceremony. They spent
their honeymoon en route to Flagstaff, Arlz., where Mr. Tombaugh will do
research work at the Lowell observatory.

Mesdames Vance Shaffer and
Terry* Preston were joint hostesses
at a tacky party for members of
the Worthwhile class of the Pres-
byterianSunday school last Wednes-
day at the church. Johnson grass
was used in vases fqr decorations
and the refreshment plate featured
ice cream in the form of a haystack
with animal cookies around them.
First prize went to Mrs. Carl Gra-
ham in the “style show.’’ Members
present were Mesdames Graham,
W. P. Slaton, J. E. Warden, Clyde
Dunn. Elizabeth Allen, S. Y.
Thomas, Allen Bell, J. Wood Par-
ker and the hostesses. Visitors
were Mesdames Bill Graham of
this city and Talley of Big Spring.

Mrs. J. P. Hamilton, president,
presided over the regular meeting
of the Methodist Women’s Mission
ary Society Monday afternoon, at
the church. Mrs. E. M. Gillespie led
the opening prayer and Mrs. J. B.
Minton read the scripture lesson
from 14th chapter of the Gospel of
St John. Plans were made for a
luncheon meeting to be held Mon-
day, tjune 25, at the church and
each member was asked to bring si
guest. Mrs. R. T. Martin was in
charge of the mission study. Mes-
dames L. J. Crawford -and B. M.
Dinsmore each gave topics on the
mission lesson. Mrs. W. C Martin
led the closing prayer. Twenty
members were present.

At McGann Home
Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGann en-
tertained the ^Monthly Dinner club
at their home on East Bryan ave-
nue, Wednesday evening, Flowers
adorned the table from which a
tasty menu was served $nd bridge
provided diversion afterward. Hign
score prizes went to Dr. P. E. Fish
and Mrs. Russell Gilbert. Present
were Messrs, and Mesdames Rainey
Elliott of Vernon, Spurgeon Jen-
nings, Russell Gilbert, Ray B. Dick-
ey and Dr. and Mrs. P. E. Fish.

Bridge Party
Messrs. and Mesdames U. G.
White, L. B. Slaughter and Clyde
Cole were hosts’ Thursday evening
at the Country Club to members of
the club and auxiliary at a buffet
supper and bridge party. A bount-
eous meal was served and eight
tables were arranged for the games
in which high score prizes went to
J. W. Gookin and Mrs. J. C. Scheu-
rer and the cut prize to W. IL
Miskimins.
Mr. and Mrs. J. 0 Vance and two
daughters of Midland, stopped over
for a brief visit with friends here
Monday, while enroute to Duncan,
Oklahoma to visit^his mother. Mr.
Vance was formerly chief engineer
for the Bedby Oil and Gas Company
here.
The Continental Oil company has
been doing considerable shifting of
employes in recent weeks. The L.
A. Clarks were bent to Burkburnett
and the N. 0. Starks returned Io
this community. The Dorcas Circle
of the Baptist W. M. U. gave Mrs.
Stark a welcome shower. The Carter
Woods have moved into their house
vacated by the M D. Smiths who
moved to the Vinson place
Roy Schoonover did jury service
at Wichita Falls last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Keesee and
family spent the week-end with
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burke and
family. All enjoyed a fishing trip
together.

birth of a daughter, Peggy Ruth,
on Saturday, May 28th, at their
home in Los Angeles. The little
lady is a granddaughter, of Mr. and
Mrs. L. E. Sheldon and greatniece
of W. J. and C. P. Sheldon of this
city. Her mother will be remem-
bered as Miss Emma Sheldon, grad-
uate of Electra high school and
popular in social circles before her

Mrs. Knox Smith entertained
Thursday afternoon, June 7, at the
family home on West Roosevelt
avenue, in honor of her^sons, Rod-
ney, four and Ddn, five, on
birthdays. Games and contests
enjoyed and pink and white cakes
with the required number of can-
dles on them were the center of
interest. The girls were presented
dolls as party favors, while the boys
were given tops. The c^kes were
cut and were served with ice cream

from Electra high school and both
took their pre-med courses in the

here for a number of years

The groom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. J. M. Darter and is engaged
in business here being the owner of
the Electra Mattress and Furniture
Company. Both he and his bride en-
joy the esteem of a host of friends.
Immediately following the cere-
mony they left for Galveston where
they will spend their honeymoon.
They will be at home after June 20
at 104 West Lincoln avenue.
