SISD accountability rating
exceeds TEA target standing
Schools in Texas receive an accountability rating each year based on four
indexes set by the Texas Education Agency. In order to “Meet Standard” , a dis-
trict or a campus must reach the target for Index 3 AND Index 4 AND EITHER
Index 1 or Index 2.
Index 1 - Student Achievement based on the number of students who met
the standard on the STAAR exam.
Index 2 - Student Progress based on the number of students who met or ex-
ceeded progress expectation. Students do not have to meet the standard to make
progress. This index shows individual student growth.
Index 3 - Closing Performance Gaps
The goal of any school district is that all populations (ethnicity, demograph-
ic, etc.) achieve at the same rate as ALL STUDENTS. This index compares the
passing rate of ALL STUDENTS with those students in special populations.
Index 4 - Postsecondary Readiness
This measures the readiness of Sanger students to enter college or start a
career after high school. It is based on the graduation rate, the number of stu-
dents who achieve a Advanced Level on the STAAR exam, student results on
other college entrance tests such as the SAT, ACT, etc., the number of students
enrolled in Duel Credit classes, the number of students enrolled in a coherent
sequence of Career and Technology classes that could lead to a certification
or other job opportunities for our high school graduates. K-8 schools are only
scored on the percentage of students who met the final recommended Advanced
Level on STAAR.
Sanger ISD District Rating - Met Standard
Index 1 Score = 77 (Target = 60)
Index 2 Score = 35 (Target = 22)
Index 3 Score = 37 (Target = 28)
Index 4 Score = 66 (Target = 60)
“All of our other campuses exceeded the Index Score on all four areas and
received a Met Standard rating, with the exception of Linda Tutt High School.
LTHS is an Alternative School of Choice that serves high school students whose
life circumstances make it difficult for them to be successful in a traditional high
school setting,” said Jennifer Mulkey, Director of Special Programs and District
Testing Coordinator for SISD. “The Index 1 score for LTHS did not reach the
target. We have already begun work to correct this and feel confident that LTHS
will meet all targets in the future.”
See the TEA chart chart below for SISD:
