The Philathee Sunday School
Class of the First Baptist Church
met in the home of Mrs. Nellie
Minnick last Thursday night for
their regular business and,social
meeting.
' After Mrs. Thelma Turner, the
class preaident, called the group
to ortjer, Mrs. Lila White gave
the opening prayer. Mrs. Inez
Simmons, teacher, gave the de-
votional from 11 Timothy 1:5 on
“Grandmother and Mother.” The
president then read from . the
Baptist Standard an arUele which
had been written by pastor Jas.
Thompson. Reports from secre-
tary Lula Heard and group cap-
tains were heard, and the class
addressed Mother’s Day cards to
the mothers in the local nursing
home. Mrs. Keith Noland gave
the closing prayer of dismissal.

Circle I Meets
In Clements Home
Circle I of the WSCS of the
First Methodist Church met in
the home of Mrs. Q. E. Clements
Monday morning with 9 members
present. Mrs. L. T. Aldrich, Cir-
cle Chairman, presided.
Mrs. C. D. Coleman gave the
opening prayer, after which re-
ports on the sick and shut - ins
were* made and cards sent from
those present. It was reported
that Mmes. Aldrich, Clements,
Willie McBride and Clara Belle
Shadow, along with WSCS presi-
<ient Mrs. Lynne Hawik. had at-
tended the WSCS Workshop in
Tyler the previous week.
Mrs. McBride led the group in
a study of II Peter 1, the theme
being “Sobriety and Vigilance
Necessary.” Mrs. Nell Kennedy
gave the devotional, and the clo-
sing prayer was by Mrs. B. A.
Parrish. The’ next regular meet-
