I ! Avoid Handling Small Fi*b
If you catch a fish too small
lo keep, don't handle the little
?rittei when removing the hook,
for you might injure him.
Slide your hand down the
[ leader as you bring the fish to
the surface. Grasp the lure
with your thumb and forefin-
ger and shake gently.
This frightens the fish and
it will thrash about on the sur-
face. Unless gut-hooked the ac-
tion will more than likely die- I
lodge the hook and the fish will ’
take off for deep water/

You are lucky if you have

After each hunting
carefully rub down with
seed oil. Rub oil in for at least
a half hour, then wipe surplus
oil off and briskly polish stock
with soft, clean cloth.
Controlling Lure*
Spin-fishermen can control
the flight of their lures as
easily as can bait casters—but
with their forefingers.
When the spinning lure takes
off too fast, point your fore-
fingers down and let the out-
coiling line slap against it.
After a few casts, your ac-
curacy will improve greatly.

What’* In A Name?
A man often is said
only as his name.
This probably came from the
practice of men verbally bind-
ing themselves in agreements
with others on the strength of
their “good name.”
Texas history' records at
least one man who proved him-
self to be even better than his
name. For this man changed
his name.
He changed his name from
Otfried Hans Freiherr Von
Meusebach so that he could be-
come a citizen of Texas under
the name of John O. Meuse-
bach.

Need Hot Water Quickly?
When a fisherman needs hot
water in a hurry and can’t take
the time to build a fire to
heat it, he can start up his
outboard motor, idle it, and
hold a bucket under the hot
water stream at the outlet.
He can get any amount of
hot water he needs- and it is
plenty hot. \
