The Millennium Clock
that stands on the Leonard
City Square was erected in
December of 1999 and was
dedicated at midnight on Dec.
31, 1999 with over 100 people
in attendance in honor of the
Millennium. The Kiwanis Club
of Leonard spearheaded the
project to buy the city clock and
have it erected. However, over
15 years later, the clock is now
needing some repairs to get it
back in working order.
There was a placard placed
on the clock that has now been
found in three pieces with a
chunk of the placard missing.
There is not enough of the
placard left to read the original
message. Pictures have been
found in earlier issues of The
Leonard Graphic documenting
the erecting of the clock and
the dedication, but the placard
was not photographed as
far as can be found. Anyone
with information on the sign
wordage is asked to contact
City Hall. The city would
like to have it made again and
replaced on the clock as well
as making the repairs needed to
make it work.

As summer begins, families
will begin planning vacations
and trips throughout the state.
The Texas Department of
Transportation has a website,
www.drivetexas.org, that
shows current road conditions
throughout the state. This tool
is instrumental when planning a
road trip.
The website shows road

road closures, and flooding. With
the severe weather Texas has

the website is an important
safety tool to see whether your
route is experiencing flooding,
damage, or other closure.
You can also find traffic
conditions on the state’s major
roads, rest areas, and travel
information centers. The website
is updated frequently, so the
information is as current as
possible. The site also has a
search option, where you can
search for information by county,
