A Denison man lost
his life in a single vehicle
accident Sunday afternoon
in Tannin County.
The initial call came
out as a major accident
with ejection on State
Highway 11 between
Bailey and Randolph. As
first responders checked
in route to the scene, they
asked over scanner traffic
for dispatchers to determine
the status of a helicopter
until they could get to
the scene and assess the
situation. Upon arrival, they
determined a helicopter
could not help the victim,
49-year-old Robert Sillings
of Denison, who was found
to have already passed away.

The Leonard Tigers
football team had not faced
the Cooper Bulldogs since the
play-offs in 2013 when they
eliminated them in the play-
offs. And while the regional
championship was not at
stake like it was between the
two teams three years ago, an
undefeated district record was
for the Tigers. The Tigers got
another big win to keep the
record clean and improve it to
4-0 in district and 7-1 for the
season.
The Tigers got on the board
first at 8:15 in the first quarter
with a Brex Schur quarterback
keeper touchdown, making the
score 6-0. The Tigers held the
Bulldogs to four plays, and
pushed them back four yards
before getting the ball back on

Mark Tackett with
Texas Highway Patrol
reported DPS Troopers were
dispatched to investigate
the crash, which happened
at approximately 5:45
p.m. Their preliminary
investigation found that
Sillings was headed
westbound on Highway 11
in his 1989 Chevrolet truck
when he lost control of
his vehicle and veered off
the right side of the road.
Shillings then overcorrected
to the left, left the roadway
and struck a tree. Tackett
stated that Shillings was not
wearing a seatbelt at the
time of the wreck and was
ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at
the scene by Tannin County
Precinct 3 Justice of the
Peace Kenny Karl.

is coming!! Oct. 31 falls on
a Monday this year, so The
Chamber is expecting lots of
participation in this year's event.
The streets on the west,
north and east sides of the
