E. Gocanougher, member of the State
Sanitary Livestock Commission, has re-
ceived the following notice concerning
the Federal embargo on the Inter-state
shipment of cattle, which became ef-
fective July 1:
“The Federal government has issued
an order effective July ist, 1916, that
no cattle can be shipped inter-state
from the tick-infested area except for
Immediate slaughter unless aocompn-
ied by certificate from the Federal In-
spector passing them to clean territory.
— “This means it is necessary for you to
clean your cattle for shipment to mar-
ket unless you are willing to put them
in a division specially provided for im-
mediate daughter. However, there is
nothing to prevent your cleaning these
cattle under Federal regulations in the
yards at Fort Worth. The owner is
required to pay 82.50 per car for clean-
ing and disinfecting car after cattle are
unloaded.
“This does not apply to state ship-
ments; therefore Texas shipper can
ship to Fort Worth as heretofore, Ok-
lahoma shippers to Oklahoma City; but
inter-state shipments must be handled
as above from all tick infested states.
“This order further means eradicate

Despite the fact that it is a very busy-
time of the year, the July First Mon-
day crowd was an unusually good one,
with politics for the first time this year
showing a very considerable interest to
about all the visitors. All the local
candidates, including those from here
and from over the county, were pres-
ent mingling with the voters and plac-
ing before them their respective claims
to office, and the candidates for County
Attorney were scheduled for a joint de-

Germans Admit Trench Losses
BERLIN, July 3.—The German official
statement of Sunday admitted that the
entente troops had been successful in
penetrating the German firat-line posit-
ions at several points, the German di-
vision defending these positions being
withdrawn to other prepared points.
From Gommccourt to Laboiselie, the
report says, the French and British suf-
fered very heavy losses and secured no
advantages worth mentioning. '
The repulse of the French al Thiau-

Horse Steps Thru Bridge,
The buggy horse of R. H. Garrison,
driven by Miss Blanche Garrison, broke
thru the bridge on North Elm street
Sunday morning and barely escaped a
serious accident. The shafts were
broken out, but the horse escaped with
hardly a bruise, altho both hind feet
went thru the hole.
First Monday Crowd Small.
The first Monday crowd today was
very small in comparison with the
crowds that have attended the horse
’traders’ days here before. It was di-
minished to a great degree because of
the threshing of grain in the county
preventing the farmers coming to town.
The election bee was busy thruout the
day, however, and a good number of
candidates was in evidence meeting the
voters.
