Urbanization Is having its
effects upon the pattern of
land use in Texas. The acreage
in cities and densely populated
suburbs increased more than
threefold from 1945 to 1959,
says Gerald F. Vaughn, Exten-
sion rural-urban affairs specia-
list. Texas had more land in
urban areas in 1959 than any
other state. The shifts in land
use, Vaughn says, are affect-
ing agriculture and rural liv-
ing in the developing areas
some of which are miles from
cities.
The Council was advised that the Electrician* bond rata
ha* been increased from $5.00 per $1,000.00 to $20.00
per $1,000.00. A request to decrease the amount of
Bond from $3,000.00 to $1,000.00 ha* been made. Aft-
er a discussion Mr. Kinney moved that the amount of
Bond for Electricians be decreased from $3,000.00 to
$1,000.00. Clayton Boyd seconded, and the motion car-
ried with Mr. Apel abstaining.
