A group of
volunteers are looking
forward to spring with plans
for a community garden as
the City braces for a winter
storm forecast for Thursday
and Friday. Weathermen
said late Tuesday freezing
rain, ice and snow were all
possibilities.
The community
garden will be next to the
Senior Citizens Center, and
organizers are planning a
children’s garden and herb
garden along with the
vegetables in the 12,000
square feet area.
Librarian
Holbert said the planning
committee would be
meeting at 10 a.m. next
Tuesday with anyone
interested invite to join
them at the library. A soil
analysis is planned with
expectations of tilling the
plot in the near future.
' The county
extension agent as well as
master gardeners in the area
will be helping local
volunteers with the project.
Tickets are still
available, at the Chamber of
Commerce for the 90'1'
annual banquet to be held
on Feb.6. A table of eight
may be purchased for $150
The fire department
will sponsor a Bingo on
Saturday night at
chamber to benefit
senior lock-in, and
seventh annual rib feed to
benefit local school bands is
planned for Feb. 7, Super claiming
Bowl Sunday, at Dinsmore
Elementary
