1 would like to be elected to
the City Council so I can continue
to try and help our community in
any way that I can. I want to see
some projects already in progress
finished and then see if we can
help our youth a little more than
we have in the past. 1 would also
like to help more people get
involved in the community and
feel a little pride in doing so.

SEALCOATING. A layer of sealcoating was applied to Reynosa Street, and a portion of McKinney Street,
last Thursday. DeLeon Mayor Danny Owen noted that this was “tax-payer money in action” as funds for the
coating was obtained from the 1/4 cent sales tax that the city collects.

MID-DAY HOME FIRE. Around 10:45 a.m. Thursday, August 23, DeLeon Volunteer Firemen were called to a structure fire
near the intersection of CR’s 454 & 494. Upon arrival they found the home of Mike and Jana Wright on fire. Although much
of the home was filled with flames, the blaze was quickly extinguished once the fire hoses were put into action. No one was
home when the fire started and the home was essentially a total loss. Fire Chief Doyle Rone said the State Fire Marshall s
office was asked to ol^eck the scene, something he described as a routine procedure in a fire of unknown origins.
