Not too many years ago a lot
was said about closing the
Comanche and De Leon Hospitals
and building a new one in Van
Dyke. Some negative-thinking
folks were spreading the thoughts
that the citizens jn both communi-
ties would be without quick med-

Early last Friday (8/24) my
police scanner toned a page for a
medical emergency on Cato St. in
De Leon. This is the time
sequence:
6:10am— TONE for EMT to
Cato in De Leon
6:14am— Medic 11 en route
6:16am— On scene
6:29am— En route to CCMC
6:39am— At CCMC-ER
6:55am— Medic 11 clear,
restocked and back on call
That’s six minutes for medical
personal to arrive — 13 more min-

the ambulance. A total of 29 min-
