We know of one proud papa in

COUGARS PLAY MARATHON FOR BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
Friday November 20, the Dell City Cougars journey to Van
Horn, Texas, to play Marathon for the Bi-District champion-
ship. Winners of this game will play in the State in the near
future.
Several from Dell City attended the Marathon-Pyote gama that
played last Friday night at Pyote A large crowd is expected
to attend the game from the Dell City area, and to be on hand
to help The Cougars to bring home the title. This is 2 years
for the Cougars to be undefeated.
The scoop is that Marathon outweighs the Cougars, but like
other teams in the district, it seem that they do not have
the stamina to carry thru on the fast plays up and through
the 3rd and 4th quarters. Dell City has been excellent from
this standpoint. There never was much of a change of pace in
any game. The fact that they are champions and that their
willingness to keep the title perhaps spurs them on to vic-
tory. __
Everyone that can possibly go should be at the game this
next Friday nigbt. The more people from Dell City on the side
lines will help the Cougars to win.
The game will start at 8*00 pm CST or 7*00 our time. The re-
.feree will be Woody Woodruff of Apline, Umpire will be Buddy
Moore of El Paso, headslinesman will be Zeff Garner of Apline
and field judge is Carlton Thomas of El Paso.
Hunters Advised to Carry
Plastic Bag, Long Rope
Here is some advice for deer
hunters. Take along a plastic bag
and six feet of nylon rope.
. If you make a kill, the bag will
keep the liver and heart clean,
and the rope can be used to tie
the deer’s four feet together so
you can carry the dead animal
over your shoulders.

Not long ago when we were talk-
ing with an editor up in New
Mexico, he made the statement
that the best way to run a
newspaper was to take line of
least resistance. We are of the
contention that it still mu?es

Returning from Carlsbad, last
Sunday evening we stopped at
SALT FLAT and enjoyed a nice
visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Hammack. During the visit we
picked up a little news of the
area.
Mrs. Lulu Gilmore, of Lometa,
Texas, is visiting the Ben Gil-
mores and will prolong her stay
until around the first of the
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Haroun of
Carlsbad, stopped in to visit
the Hammacks on their way to
El Paso, last Saturday.
Ed. Hammack sold 50 head of
whiteface calves and yearlings
to Tot Richardson, of Van Horn,
and will be trucked to Alpine,
Texas.
Salt Flat inhabitants state
that traffic is pretty heavy
with people going and return-
ing from the Sunland Races each
week end.
Pan American have been busy
securing oil leases in the Salt
Flat area in the past few weeks.
Thanks for the items Mrs. Ham-
mack, send us some more next
week if you can find the time.

ANGLERS USE
‘SHOCK’ METHOD
Although they caught a mess
of fish in the South Licking
River near Cynthiana, Ky.,
Shelton West and two fellow
anglers aren’t likely to use the
same method again.
They were standing in the
water when a high-voltage
wire snapped and dangled into
the water. Their rubber boots
protected them, but hundreds

Proof that Dell City is gaining -
in population can be found in
the new arrival column, where
five are listed as new comers
to the city. There was one more
to list but we did not have the
statistics such as names, weight
etc. and will include it next
week. ,
Doll City business men or the
Chamber of Commerce should have
had a prize set up for someone
to claim on the first set of
twins to be born in the Valley.
Since we didn't, does anyone
want to go in for a prize to
be given for the first set of
triplets?
We have convinced ourselves
that the only sensible attitude
to take concerning leaves that
fall in the fall* Mother Bature
produced them; let her dispose
of them.
We have also decided to be tol-
erant with any person who dis-
agrees with us, and intend to
bear in mind that they have a
perfect right to their erroneous
opinions.
