■ The first games of the Welch*
1 Grander series came* of Saturday
' night, Capt. Welch wore his honors
I lightly and “done up” his oppos-
•iag captain by a few pjn«. If all
had done as, well victory
would have been on his side. The
Grnnders won the first two games
and the Welch team the last.
Reiffert was absent and he was
given an average score. The bowl-
ing was spirited at times, Capt.,
Welch always encouraging his'
men to do their level best to do up
the “duffers.”
Following is the score:
149 138—439
146 173 141—460
129 168—463
150 150—450
121 133—406

All that was mortal of F.
Schmidt was gently assigned to
the bosom'of mother earth yester-
day afternoon at 4 o’clock, the
Cortege moving from the house to
the Lutheran church, where Rev.
W. Utesch held the funeral ser-
vices, and from the qhttrch to
beautiful Hillside cemetery, and
the large concourse of friends
which followed the remaips to its
last resting place attests the esteem
in which he was held.
After the body was lowered, into
the grave the hood was placed over
. it and a most exquisite mound of
flowers and evergreens was imme-
diately made by loving hands as a
last sad tribute of respect. ‘
The active pall bearers. Walter
Breeden, Dan Wittnebert, Joseph
Stubbeman, Alois Naunheim,Wm.
