Anyone finding a counterfeit

The De Leon Police Depart-

businesses and citizens after a
counterfeit $20 bill was found by
a local bank in one of its night
deposits.
Tracing the bill’s origin may be
next to impossible but the Secret
Service is expected to handle the
case in which there appears to be
only one incident at this point.

A book making the rounds these
days has for both its theme and its
title the theory that men are from
Mars, while women are from
Venus. That variation in home
towns is espoused as the prime
reason for the un-declared war
betwixt the sexes. It seems like to
me that the theory is a tad flimsy
without further details, so I spent a
good five minutes researching the
geographic location of Mars and
Venus.
Surprisingly Mars and Venus
ain't all that far apart - only a
couple of counties separate them.
Mars is in Van Zandt County, with
Canton as the county seat. Venus is
over at the east edge of Johnson
County'on Hwy 67, not all that
many miles away. It's kind of
surprising that the distinctive mind
sets of women and men originating
in such close proximity could be so
different.
Now, I will proceed, at great
personal risk to my well being, and
discuss little differences of opinion
that sometimes engender spirited
discussions between my first wife,
Ol' Margaret and me.
I've always contended that if
there's water to boil, dirty clothes to
sort, wash, fold and/or hang it's Ol'
Margaret's duty to get it did. That is
not the entire scope of her responsi-
bilities, but you get the idea.
Now, it has fallen my lot, based
on my manual dexterity, and
inherent ability, to tote the trash,
bring in the morning paper, mow
the lawn and rake the leaves. Of
course, I have other chores, but
they are too numerous and menial
for mention.
Me’n Ol' Margaret have multiple
TVs, but mostly we share the big
one in our den. I know how to
operate the channel selector, but
that ability is not in danger of
waning from over use. Ol* Margaret
is the usual manager of that clicker,
and she can view snippets of each
and every program during the thirty
seconds lapse between programs.
She selects our viewing pleasure by
that dizzying method, and it's a rare
occasion when football games
attract her attention. Or baseball.
Or even basketball. And, to make it
even worse, she don't cotton to
Laurel and Hardy or the Three
Stooges.
The Home and Garden Network
draws her like a magnet attracts
iron filings. She is able to focus her
undivided attention upon an array
of hosts, both male and female,
who show how to pot ragweeds in
exotic clay pots, paint an entire
house with a bottle of nail polish,
or build an entire set of silverware
from an empty Coors can. I've
witnessed the creation of stone
walls, skyscrapers and pole corrals
without an off color word or the
loss of blood. Martha Stewart is

Hare was looking for Gerald Frank
