MANVEL - While enduring a few more blemishes on their record
this season, the defending state champion Manvel Lady Mavericks
continue to steamroll through district opponents.
Jordan Hosey pumped in a game-high 21 points and Lauren Tay-
lor delivered 12 points to lead the Lady Mavericks to a 64-25 rout
of Pasadena Memorial in the 22-6A girls’ basketball opener for both
teams, Tuesday night.
The outcome was never in doubt with the Lady Mavs rolling to
a commanding 25-4 first quarter advantage behind 10 Hosey points
and a pair of treys by point guard Ameiya Jackson.
Manvel held Memorial scoreless for almost a 10-minute stretch
during the first half, expanding the margin to 38-7 at intermission.
The victory was the 45th straight for the Lady Mavs (9-5 overall,
1-0) in district play. The last league defeat for the Manvel Girls
came in the 2010-11 district finale against Friendswood.
The Lady Mavs next play at Pearland, Friday night at 7 p.m.
