“I have loved being at the col-
lege and helping students, and it
is especially rewarding to be rec-
ognized by my peers for the Ida
Blanchette Excellence Award,”
Fox said. “There are so many
hard-working, dedicated people
here at ACC and that makes it a
wonderful place to be. I would
like to thank the ACC Foundation
for the tremendous blessing they
are to ACC and the community.”

Her nomination for the Admin-
istrative Excellence Award was
based on innovative procedures
she has helped introduce in her
position.
Kraft received the Jo Bennett
Excellence Award for imple-
menting an electronic purchase
order process, producing train-
ing materials for the process,
and conducting training for
employees. She also was instru-
mental in overseeing the ACC
Marketplace, an online purchase
system for college events and
workshops.
“This has always been more
than just a job for me because I
really enjoy the work that I do
and the people that I work with,”
Kraft said. “It was an honor to
receive the Excellence Award,
and it made me feel like I make
a difference at the College.
ACC is like family to me, and I
am very thankful that the people
I work with have paid me such a
compliment.”
One of the most important
services ACC provides is testing
for its new students. In her 35
years with ACC, Fox has served
more than 20 as its testing co-
ordinator. College staff mem-
bers nominated her because she
helped implement computer-
based testing for GED, ACT,
Texas Success Initiative and
other tests.
She has also volunteered to
beta test for other testing pro-
grams now offered at the col-
lege.

We wish you the best of
luck. Congratulations,
Mom & Dad.
Every year the Alvin Com-
munity College Foundation rec-
ognizes members of the faculty
and staff for their efforts to pro-
vide a quality education to the
college’s students.
The Foundation issues three
Excellence Awards to Technical,
Clerical, Support and Mainte-
nance employees; an admin-
istrative staff employee; and a
faculty member.
The Foundation honored ACC
math department chair Jennifer
Hopkins, testing coordinator
Angela Fox, and Fiscal Affairs
director Deborah Kraft. Each re-
ceived $1,000.
Hopkins has been an instruc-
tor at ACC for more than 17
years and was eventually pro-
moted to math department chair.
She also was lead advisor for the
Phi Theta Kappa Honors Soci-
ety and was named to the orga-
nization’s advisor Hall of Fame.
She was nominated for the
Joe Phillips Excellence Award
by leading one of ACC’s largest
departments while also imple-
menting new teaching methods,
including adjusting the length of
each semester and introducing
more computer-based instruc-
tion.
Hopkins said she was sur-
prised to receive the recognition.
“I did not know I was nomi-
nated, so I was completely over-
whelmed when they called out
my name,” she said. “I am hum-
bled to know that my colleagues
find my work to be excellent.”
For nearly 10 years Kraft has
worked at many positions in-
cluding an accountant, assistant
business office director, and cur-
$20.00 per 24 hours
