playoff warmup game in Victoria. Schulenburg downed St. Joseph 10-7 to take a 18-4 record
into the bi-district game against Yoakum this Thursday, April 25 at the Sports Complex.
Game time was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs finished third in District 27-3A
while the Lady Horns placed second in 28-3A behind No. 1 -ranked Hallettsville. Rounding
out the playoff spots in 28-3A were Columbus and Industrial. With a win over Yoakum,

in 26-3A) in the area round. That game or series must be played by May 4.
This past Monday, St. Joseph led 7-4 through four innings thanks to a six-run third but
the Lady Horns responded with back-to-back three-run innings in the fifth and sixth. Seven
of Schulenburg’s 13 hits went for extra bases with three doubles and a triple to go along
with the three dingers. Jordan Salem went 3-for-3 with a pair of two-baggers and three
runs batted in. Thompson had the other double while Erica Otto had the three-bagger.

Credit card skimmers found during traffic stop near Flatonia
A traffic stop made on Interstate 10 near Flatonia on
Wednesday, April 10 yielded credit cards skimmers
and other illegal items, according to Fayette County
Sheriff Keith Korenek.
Interdiction Investigator David Smith stopped the
vehicle for a traffic violation near the 659 mile marker
about two miles west of Flatonia. While conducting
an investigation, Smith observed several criminal in-
dicators which led him to believe that the driver of the
vehicle was being untruthful in his statements.
A consent to search was obtained from the driver and
Smith located approximately 615 gift cards encoded with
fraudulent information, several electronic devices, five
credit card skimmers, gas pump keys, and gas pump
seal stickers. The credit card skimmers are criminal
instruments commonly used to steal electronic credit
card information from the general public.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Yandy Rodri-
guez of Houston, was charged with no driver’s license;
unlawful interception, use or disclosure of wire, oral or
electronic communications; fraudulent use or posses-
sion of identifying information; and unlawful use of a
criminal instrument. Investigator Smith was assisted in
this case by the Department of Public Safety Criminal
Investigations Division.
