Sweeny pointed out that the
item is not included in the
1963 budget for the county
tax office, and that the ex-
pense would be great --
a rough estimate of $10,000
per y-»ar for the two sub-
stations was mentioned.
Thomas told the court that
this ••will have to be done
eventually, and I believe that
the time is past due
already.” but did not press
the court for immediate ac-
ceptance of rhe idea.
He asked whether the court
would be receptive to rhe
idea if he could find a way
to finance it, but no definite
answer was given to this.
Brown aid he felt that
it can’t be done this year,
ard it i “nor that urgent
that you do it this year,
anyway.”

Thomas Suggests Tax
Sub - Station In Alvin
Establishment of perma-
nent Brazoria County Tax
Office sub-stations in Bra-
zosport and Alvin has been
suggested to Brazoria Coun-
ty Commis ioners Court by
County Tax Assessor-Col-
lector H. A. Thomas.
Thomas said that these
stations would collect poll
taxes, issue license plates
and the like on a permanent
basis. Each would require
one full-time employee, and
would be open year-round, he
said.
Commissioners Court
rook no action on rhe sugges-
tion. though members in-
formally agreed that rhe plan
has merit, and probably will
be neces ary soon.
