Alpha Delta Kappa teachers' sorority, serves Robin Bennett, of
Damon, during the sorority's scholarship fundraiser at the First
United Methodist on June 16. The members of the sorority made
a variety of dishes for visitors to the tasting lunch to try out.
There was Spicy Broccoli with Almonds, Best Ever Meatloaf,
Pecan Pie Muffins. Easy Spicy Ranch Crackers and many other
dishes to try. The gathering which was the 17th year the group
has held it drew many supporters and will help the group fund
scholarships for at least four students who are working toward
a bachelor's degree in education. The group also sold a recipe
book filled with the direction on how to make the items served
at the lunch. Those who would like a copy of the $3 recipe book
can call 281-910-7975. (Staff photos by David Money)

Lisa Jastram, who provides educational enter-
tainment in schools, libraries and pre-schools
around the area was in the Alvin Library on
June 7 showing kids the old Japanese art of
origami, which means folding paper. The stu-
dents made a dog, a helmut a swan, shown
above, and other items under the guidance of
Jastram. The program was part of the library's
summer activities program. June 30 kids can
learn how to milk a cow when the mobile dairy
classroom comes to the library. (Staff photos
