Shimek and wife Jeanie of Shiner; three sisters, Gladys Hoelscher and husband
Leo of Weimar, Valerine Christ and husband Alton of Houston, and Georgia
Klesel and husband John of Houston; two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Shimek of
Dallas and Rosemary Shimek of La Grange; and numerous nieces, nephews,
great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laddie; parents; four brothers,
Josephine Mary Michalec, age 90years, 8 months,
2days, passed away at Schulenburg Regency Nurs-
ing Center on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The funeral was held on Saturday, Aug. 15 at
hummingbirds, other birds and deer from her bay window. She loved her
nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-greats. She loved
being a godmother to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews,
great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Evelyn and Laddie enjoyed leading grand marches atfamily weddings. Evelyn
loved making her homemade mustang grape wine, whichshesharedwithfamily
and friends. Many bottles of her wine were donated to auctions. Evelyn was
a devoted Christian at St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a member of the

Schulenburg Festival. In that ad, I thanked my Team of Directors
who work year round to make the Schulenburg Festival possible. I
failed in that attempt by missing two very importantTeam Members
- Arnold and Bea Stoever.

Directors. Myomission in no way takes awayfromtheircontribution
to our organization. To Arnold and Bea I say thank you for your

Evelyn graduated in 1960 from Schulenburg
High School. She retired from Texaco Inc. after
33 years of service. Evelyn and Laddie enjoyed
ranching at their weekend home in St. Mary's
and moved to St. Mary's in the summer of 1999
to continue their hobbies of ranching, fishing
and deer-hunting. Evelyn loved her ranching activities and driving her tractors.
Evelyn and Laddie also hosted as parents to two exchange students, Karolina
Kvitkova and Terezie Sedlinska from Prague, Czech Republic.
Evelyn was blessed with a love for music, singing, crocheting and played
various instruments. Sheenjoyed baking delicious koiaches, strudels and other

she was born in Schulenburg on Dec. 10,1924. She MICHALEC
graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1942. Her marriage to Victor J.
Michalec took place on Oct. 14,1944 in Schulenburg. While her husband was
stationed with the Marines, she travelled throughout the country. She was
a housewife and homemaker, and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic
Church, Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Hermann Sons. She loved
gardening and canning, her flowers and hummingbirds, and polka music and
dancing. She loved playing dominoes and bingo as well as going out to eat
with friends.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carol Michalec; son-in-law, Frank
Vyvjala;two sisters, Anna Lee Machac and Grace Baylor, both of Schulenburg;
and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding herin death were herparents, Emil and Anna Bartosh; her husband,
Victor Michalec Sr.; a daughter, Jo Ruth Vyvjala; a son, Victor Michalec Jr.; and
a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and John Redgrave. She is now reunited
in heaven with her family - her husband and three children.
Schwenke-Baumarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Angelina Henrietta Ryba, age 89years, 1 month, 29
days, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Schulen-
burg Regency Nursing Center.
The funeral was held on Monday, Aug. 17 at 10
a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, followed by
interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Tim Kosler
officiated. Pallbearers were James Peterek, Buddy
Peterek, Joseph Ryba, Jerry Shupak Jr., Brandon
Ryba, Johnny Peterek, Austin Ryba and Branden Ryba.
Rosary was said on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. at
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home, led by the
Rev. Kosler.
Born at Oakland on June 15, 1926, she was the
daughter of Frank and Emelia Marek Peterek. On Sept. 15, 1946, she married
Edwin Ryba Sr. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville. A
resident of Fayette County for 69 years, Mrs. Ryba was a homemaker. She
was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and American Legion
Auxiliary, and she enjoyed bingo and polka music
Survivors include a son, Edwin Ryba Jr. of Schulenburg; daughter-in-law,
Shirley Ryba of Weimar; and five grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; a son, Jimmy Ryba;
three brothers, Charlie Peterek, Albert Peterek and Ernest Peterek; and a sister,
Selma Mazac.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
