St, Rose students pray rosary following weekly Mass
With October being observed as the Month of the Holy Rosary, and the feast day of the Holy Rosary celebrated on Oct. 7, St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is
fulfilling its mission to develop excellence through Jesus by praying the rosary following Mass each Thursday. Grades 1-8 pray the Lumnious Mysteries of the Rosary,
focusing on the life of Jesus through the eyes of his mother, Mary. Junior high classes alternate leading the rosary, and lessons about this powerful prayer are also
incorporated into daily religion classes. Students in grades 3K-kindergarten are introduced to this devotional prayer with age-appropriate activities and lessons.
In the photo at left, grades 1-8 are shown gathered for weekly rosary and in the photo at right, 3K students Jacob Schramek and Olivia Faith visit the Mary
Garden at the front of school with an image of Our Lady of Lordes.
Oct. 7 was designated as the feast day of the Holy Rosary in 1573 by St. Pius V in honor of the Christians' victory over the Turks at the battle of Lepanto - a
victory attributed to the power of the rosary. St. Rose of Lima Catholic School encourages everyone to take time during October to commit to praying the rosary
daily - it can bring great peace and holiness.
