The Alvin Yellowjacket bats erupted for a seven-run third in-
ning enroute to a 13-3 run-ruled victory over Manvel here on
Wednesday.

The climb is complete
least for the regular season.
The 22-6A Soccer Cham-
pion Alvin Lady Yellowjackets
pulled off their first unbeaten run
through district play in school
history with a 5-0 victory over
South Houston, Monday after-
noon in Pasadena.
The feat is just the latest in a
banner 2016 bucket list for the
Lady Yellowjackets, who fin-
ished 16-3-5 overall to comple-
ment a 13-0-3 league mark.
Alvin will also be entering
their bi-district match against
Beaumont West Brook (the
fourth seed from 21-6A) March
24 (place & time TBA) with
their first district championship
in 20 years and their first out-
right crown in school history.
“That’s awesome and I know
the girls will be excited to know
that,” Alvin Head Coach Donna
Ruby said following the game.
The Lady Jackets have come a
long way as well since breaking
a 13-year postseason drought for
the program in 2013. After be-
ing overwhelmed by area power
Deer Park 8-0 in the first round
of the playoffs in Ruby’s first
year at the helm, a sign was hung
in the team’s dressing room
which read “8-0, Never Again.”

Alex Jones and Kade Mor-

to spark a 13-hit attack and the
Alvin Yellowjackets rebounded
from their tough loss at Pearl-

a 13-3 run ruled decision over

Baseball action, Wednesday at
Nolan Ryan Field.
Jones and Morris also joined
Caleb Jeter, Corben Henry and
Jerran Schiller with two hits
each to back the pitching of
Zach Wright and Marc Luna.
“We came out and swung the
sticks tonight,” Jackets’ Coach
George Banda said following
the game. “We got here early
this morning and took a little
extra BP (batting practice). Our
bats went a little silent at the
end last night (against Pearland
in a 5-3 loss on Tuesday). The
biggest concern for our coach-
