Special Meeting
Called For
Comanche Trail
Boy Scouts
The Comanche Trail Council of the
Boy Scouts has called a special
meeting of its executive board for
Thursday to consider raising
additional funds or merging with a
neighboring council.
The council is running low on
funds and will not be able to
complete the year on the present
money available.
A loan of between >10,000 and
>15,000 was secured last year and the
council is still paying off this amount
and needs the same amount to
complete this year.
Last year, the Comanche Trail
Council was honored as a Quality
Council for the strength of its
Scouting program. Although the
program is rated among the best in
the nation, the salary paid
professionals is at the bottom of the
scale.
It is reported that a merger could
mean the closing of Camp Billy
Gibbons near Richland Springs,
depending on the new council’s
plans.
Counties included in the
Comanche Trail Council are Brown,
Comanche, Eastland, Erath,
Lampasas, Mills, San Saba, and
Stephens.
