De Leon’s 1990 seniors will receive
their high school diplomas Friday
night at the football field, provided it
does not rain, and I don’t think it is in
the long-range forecast as yet.
On Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church, the 8th graders will
have their graduation.
With all the parks closed at
Proctor Lake, lots of Memorial Day
weekend campers and fishermen
will have to find another place to
spend their holiday.
The lake is down three feet from
last week. Tuesday morning’s level
was 1,190.40 and at this time last
week, it was 1,193.20.

Memorial
Day Is
Monday
On Monday, May 28, the nation
will observe Memorial Day.
The post office, financial
institutions, the Comanche County
courthouse, and many businesses
will be closed in observance of the
holiday.
Originally, the day was set aside
to honor the memory of those who
died in the Civil War; the holiday
today is dedicated to the memory of
all war dead.

will lead the tassels part of the
program, followed by Tami Henson
and Nicky Wilkerson leading the
school song.

Hospital To Purchase
Gorman Clinic
At the De Leon Hospital board of
directors’ meeting last week, it was
voted to purchase the Gorman Clinic
from Stephenville Medical and
De Leon scored one run in the first
inning, but San Saba scored two in I
championship last Tuesday against the top of the second to take the lead.
The Bearcats tied the game at 2-2
after adding a run in the second
playoff game Tuesday afternoon inning. The game remained tied
was Ralls. until De Leon scored one in the J
Last Tuesday, the Bearcats and bottom of the sixth. The ‘Cats I
‘Dillos went head to head in a managed six hits and San Saba had I
playoff game to determine which five. The ‘Dillos commited four
errors and De Leon five. ■

Elementary
Principal
After interviewing applicants team advances as the district
at special meetings Thursday and champion. The game was played at
Friday night, the De Leon Board of Howard Payne University, and the pitcher, extending his record to 5-2
Education selected Mark Beaty as
De Leon Elementary School
Principal for next year.
Beaty, who is originally from De
Leon, is an elementary teacher in
the Seminole School System.
He replaces Bill Johnson who is
retiring after this school year.
