population, according to projections
released recently by the Texas
Department of Commerce. These
projections, prepared for the Texas

Texas Population Projections
Through The Year 2925
Murdock of the Department of Rural
Sociology at Texas A&M University,
project the state’s population to
increase from 16.7 million in 1986, to
23.7 or 29.6 or 36.9 million by the year
2025, depending on which of three
alternative levels of net migration
characterize the state’s future
population patterns.
