members will be held tomor-
row from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at
the City Recreation Building.
Close races are expected in
the Places 4 and 8 city council
election, due to the number of
candidates.
Place 8 incumbent Dnda
Jones Chew is running for re-
election. She will be opposed
by former councilwoman Bet- -
ty. Heath, David Clayton,
Larry McGee, D.D. “Doc”
Nicks and Charles Thompson.
Steve Young, G.C. “Cleve"
Cole, William G. Brede and
Mark DuBose will be vying for
the Place 4 slot.
Incumbent councilmeh,
I^rry Hammett, Place 2 and
W.M. Irwin, Place 6, are runn-
ing unopposed.
Joe Cummings is running
unopposed for.mayor.
